Novant Health Sports Performance Dietitian in Charlotte, North Carolina

The Sports Performance Dietitian performs nutritional education and assessment for pit crew performance athletes for a top level professional NASCAR team. Individual, group and departmental consulting as part of the coaching team is essential to this position. As part the sports medicine team, this position will be responsible to balance the individual athlete needs for top level performance. Provides coaching that includes but is not limited to optimal nutritional strategies, behavioral changes, travel refueling, hydration strategies, educational and counseling for identified deficiencies and potential disease, and recommendations for improvement after blood analysis. Scheduling and follow ups as needed for individual athletes in person or via video as needed with proper electronic documentation as per state license. Works and communicates with interdisciplinary sports medicine team in the management of health and nutritional factors.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, foods and nutrition required. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Clinical Dietitian required.

  • Licensure/certification/registration: Registered Dietitian status by the commission on Dietetic Registration required. Licensed Dietitian in appropriate state required.

  • Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Knowledge, ability and skills to support patient education and patient engagement in self-care management to accommodate cultural diversity, age specific or behavior needs among the patients being served.

  • Additional skills preferred: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to relay information to diverse audiences for one-on-one consultations, small and large group presentations; dynamic presence for media interviews, health fairs and other invited presentations/appearances.
