Responsibilities of the Special Claims Analyst include:

  • Responsible for the complete administration of the policy riders for Long Term Care (LTC), Disability Premium Waiver (DPW), Disability Deductions Waiver (DDW) and Living Benefits Rider (LBR).

  • Read and interpret medical records in connection with claims filed for all the riders and determine if the insured qualifies for claim approval based on the medical condition and the terms and provisions of the rider.

  • Responsible for the processing of the claim in our administrative systems.

  • Prepares monthly reports for audit and bookkeeping.

  • Performs other duties as required.

The base salary range for this position is $46,000 - $67,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to write and edit letters to fit each claim

  • Experience with disability and long-term care

  • Experience reading medical records

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Decision-making skills

  • Attention to detail for analyzing and processing claims

Skills:

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Results Orientation: Knowledge of the importance of meeting or exceeding established targets; ability to drive critical activities to completion.
