Ally Solutions Architect in Charlotte, North Carolina

Position Description Serves as the technical architectural expert for business and IT stakeholders. Provides guidance and leadership to project teams in the ideation, elaboration, design, and delivery of technology solutions. Provides the necessary governance and system-level designs for the end-to-end solution including inter-system/application structures. Additionally, ensures the solution adheres to Ally standard requirements, security standards, methodology and processes. Drives short-term and long-term architecture strategy for the overall technology project portfolio for key business segments. Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and process improvement to enable business strategy. Communicates and validates architecture with technical leadership, program management, business line leadership, and executive level stakeholders. This is a senior-level position that will serve as an esteemed mentor to more junior architects. Job Responsibilities * 7+ or more years of strong hands-on experience in Java and experience with backend or middle ware processing * Extensive experience in designing and implementing large scale platforms with high resiliency, availability, and reliability. * Strong experience in applications with high throughput and performance * Experience w/ Cloud Computing w/ focus on AWS; EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, Fargate, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Kinesis, MSK, SQS, S3. * Experience with micro services architectures and service mesh technologies is preferred. * Strong written, verbal communications, presentation skills, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills. * Proven collaboration skills along with the ability to influence without authority * Hands on experience in the following environments is preferred: Java, JS, Kotlin, Node, Go, Vert.x, React, Envoy, gRPC, ProtoBuf, JSON, CouchBase, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis, Jenkins, docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Drools, Elastic Stack, Kafka, Spark, ML, AWS * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or related field required Qualifications * Perform rapid POCs to experiment and build rails for the engineering team * Support engineers and project managers in rapid development and deployment * Actively participate in team and enterprise-wide architecture and engineering discussions. * Lead cross-functional team to drive peer reviews, gain consensus, and finalize proposed solutions with all stakeholders. * Introduce enterprise architectural paradigms and solutions into the portfolio. * Drive both high level and detailed design and conduct design reviews * Supports the development of architecture principles, styles, patterns and standards for systems across the business, translating corporate strategy into technical strategy. * Engage and work with cross-functional leaders to understand and help define business principles, goals and strategy within scope of responsibility. * Communicate and validate architecture with executive IT stakeholders, architects, and technologists. * Review legacy architecture, identify components strategically aligned for re-architecture, monitor technology usage for end-of-life cycle. * Mentor engineers and solution architects to ensure technology complexities are understood very clearly to implement solutions expeditiously with high quality * Review legacy architecture, identify components strategically aligned for re-architecture, monitor technology usage for end-of-life cycle Ally Overview Ally Financial Inc.
