Wells Fargo Senior Loan Examination Specialist in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

In this role, you will:

  • Lead loan reviews which include a complete re-underwrite of the loan file to assess the credit decision, a review of closing documents for compliance requirements, and a review of the appraisal for collateral quality

  • Research and validate most complex and escalated loan files to ensure programs, investors, and company polices are followed

  • Contribute to the resolution of loan transitioning and processing issues

  • Partner with other Loan Examination Specialists to meet process deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of closing, underwriting, and compliance guidelines

  • Collaborate with immediate peers and more experienced management to report findings and recommendations

  • Act as a mentor for less experienced Loan Examination Specialists

  • Review and validation of property requirements including title and appraisal

  • Utilize knowledge of company policy and procedures, and available tools and resources, such as One Right Answer and QIS methodology to validate credit decision

  • Examine transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist with fraud prevention and may partner with Fraud Risk Prevention on reviews

  • Serve as a consultant and technical resource on difficult scenarios

  • Partner with fulfillment underwriters, managers, performance coaches, and lending officers

  • Communicate and discuss findings with partners

  • Mentor other reviewers on department procedures and policies

  • Provide post authority reviews for underwriters receiving new or additional authority to comply with the decisioning authority roadmap

  • Mentor and coach peers and partners within Fulfillment

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Underwriting experience, Loan processing, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Underwriting experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Wells Fargo Sales systems experience (Ex. CORE, Empower, One Right Answer)

  • Experience with quality inspection of loan files including Conventional Agency, Non-Agency, FHA, VA, including reviewing loans from a closing/compliance perspective

  • Experience reviewing and validating all credit documents, including but not limited to: financial statements, credit reports, appraisal, income and assets documents

  • Experience reviewing applicable ratios (i.e. debt ratios, loan-to-value) including complex income scenarios, to ensure loan meets company and agency guidelines

  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback

Job Expectations:

  • This position requires compliance with all mortgage regulatory requirements and Wells Fargo’s compliance policies related to these requirements. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and required reporting of certain incidents.

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$30.58 - $54.33
