Atrium Health RN Health Ministry Coordinator - Atrium Health Southeast Anson Union Parrish Program FT in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Summary

Assists the designated leader of the department with the development and implementation of Health Ministry programs in local faith communities, with the clinical supervision and continuing education for the clinical team and provides oversight for the designated team members.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in developing annual operating and capital budget for the department within established hospital guidelines.

  • Participates in departmental and corporate level performance improvement initiatives, assisting Director in assessing and improving value added services.

  • Articulates the concepts of wholistic health care in all aspects of role – especially in communications with the faith communities, community agencies, and teammates.

  • Mentors Faith Community Nurses and Faith Community Health Promoters in establishing health ministry programs.

  • Recruits faith communities to participate in Faith Community Nursing program.

  • Assists designated leader in determining the qualifications and competence of department team members who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.

  • Engages with faith communities locally to cultivate interest/desire to pursue health ministries and promotes the concept and educates congregations and community at large regarding health ministry concepts.

Physical Requirements

Frequent movement throughout hospital campus, including offsite parish locations; frequent periods of standing, sitting, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 lbs. of weight, visual and auditory ability within normal limits or corrected. Moderate lifting, bending, stretching required. Potential exposure to infectious disease and hazardous material. Environment is climate controlled with occasional exposure to inclement weather.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and current unrestricted and valid N.C. Registered Nurse license required. Five years of clinical experience with 2 years in faith community nursing preferred. Completion of Foundations of Faith Community Nursing 34 hours course within 6 months of start date required. Familiar with major trends of holistic health care and able to articulate the concept of the interrelationship of physical, emotional and spiritual health effectively. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from AHA required.
