Job Summary
The manager of education ensures the highest standards of education are achieved through experiential learning opportunities, assessment and evaluation programs. The manager will incorporate evidence-based practice, the latest regulatory and legal requirements, adult learning principles, appropriate/effective teaching modalities and technology into all education programs. The Manager/Education promotes a safe environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Manager/Education maintains education and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. A registered nurse’s practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
Essential Functions
Develops a systematic education plan and evaluates overall education programs in response to patient and healthcare trends, regulatory requirements, and strategic priorities of the organization.
Responsible for assessment, planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of experiential learning opportunities.
Synthesizes literature and research findings to design interventions for selected problems or populations.
Uses adult teaching principles and creative teaching methodologies in presentation of education materials.
Provides consultation for and collaborates with departments on experiential learning activities.
Develops educational effectiveness measures for all programs and outcome measures for selected programs.
Guides department in performance and process improvement.
Provides cost analysis for all education and manages related resource utilization.
Responsible for the direct supervision of the education teammates.
Effectively hires, mentors, and trains new education personnel.
Develops, implements and evaluates operational and capital budgets for the department in collaboration with leadership.
Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English fluently. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell touch. Finger dexterity. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required; Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) required. Nursing Education specialty preferred. Doctoral degree preferred. Previous nursing supervisory experience required. Appropriate professional leadership certification required (within 2 years if not currently certified) or within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider from AHA required. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
