Atrium Health Pharmacy Supply Chain Supervisor Atrium Health Pharmacy Services FT in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Summary

M – F: 0800 – 1630 (primary); variable hours dictated by need

Assists in the development and implementation of pharmacy departmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives. Assists in the development of professional guidelines to ensure quality pharmacy services. Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services.

Essential Functions

  • Makes decisions regarding employment, promotion, discipline, and termination of pharmacy team members in collaboration with Pharmacy Leadership.

  • Evaluates pharmacy teammate job performances on an annual basis. Ensures that the pharmacy department adheres to all regulatory bodies including, but not limited to the DEA, the FDA and North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

  • Oversees pharmacy staffing and scheduling to ensure safe patient care.

  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services and participates in various committees.

  • Ensures that policies and procedures promoting safe and effective use of medications are followed.

  • Assists in the planning of new and/or revised pharmacy services based on new innovations, technology and/or regulatory changes.

  • Assesses and improves the performance of the pharmacy services provided. Provides an ongoing assessment of care and services provided through organizational processes.

  • Coordinates the implementation plan and supports decisions made by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

  • Initiates the proper training of pharmacy teammates in area of responsibilities.

  • Designs, recommends, monitors and evaluates patient specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens

  • Supervises daily preparation and dispensing of all pharmaceuticals.

Physical Requirements

Works primarily in the pharmacy. Delivers medications to nursing units. Requires considerable walking, standing, pushing mobile cart of 50 pounds maximum and lifting 25 pounds of material. May be required to frequently stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel to perform job. Exposure to cancer chemotherapy agents. Otherwise, hazards are very minor such as minor cuts, bruises, and non-contaminated needle pricks. Exposed to various conditions throughout the workday such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs and changes in temperature and humidity. Must be able to perform manipulative skills such as writing, typing, and data entry into the computer and automated dispensing machines. Must have use of both hands, be able to see clearly and read small type such as that on unit-dose medication packages and syringes. Must be able to speak and be understood by others. Must be able to hear normal sounds with moderate background noises.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy required. Advanced business degree and completion of a Residency program preferred. Licensed in the state of North Carolina or eligible for reciprocity required. 2 years of work related experience in pharmacy required. 2 - 4 years' acute care pharmacy (clinical, operations, or supply chain) experience preferred. Effective Communication: Proficiently communicate with healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors. Customer Service: Exhibit excellent customer service skills and a strong focus on medication sourcing needs. Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, and supervisory abilities. Positive Team Player: Display a positive attitude and unwavering commitment to teamwork in a healthcare setting.
