Wells Fargo Lead Compliance Officer- Change Management for Auto Lending Business Aligned Compliance Officer(BACO) in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Compliance Officer for the Auto Lending Business Aligned Compliance (BACO) Team as part of Consumer Lending Compliance . You will be responsible for providing compliance support and oversight for all aspects of the auto lending lifecycle. The goal of the Auto Lending Compliance team is to ensure that the business understands the laws, regulations, rules and policies inherent in its business and have established controls to promote compliance.

This Lead Compliance Officer will be assigned to support the auto lending product team that drives changes for the line of business systems and technology used to originate and service indirect auto loans. This includes providing guidance, review and challenge throughout the agile delivery process within a highly regulated banking environment. In addition, this role is responsible for overseeing certain aspects of the business' implementation of the Compliance Program Policy and the Auto Lending Compliance team's implementation of the Compliance Program Policy.

With respect to the compliance program work, this individual may be asked to undertake or lead the Auto Lending Compliance team's work with one or more of the elements of the compliance program, which could include compliance risk assessments, initiative management, implementation of policies and standards, compliance issue management, metrics, and reporting.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist with providing oversight of the product team responsible for facilitating both technology and non-technology changes across auto lending lifecycle.

  • Coordinate and facilitate compliance resource coverage on system re-platforming efforts across auto originations and servicing processes

  • Establish, implement and maintain risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and Corporate Policy requirements

  • Provide Compliance oversight of the Front line’s execution of the defect management process

  • Partner with Front Line to review proposed changes and provide insight into potential compliance risks that require further assessment or mitigation prior to launch

  • Document and provide regulatory compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and other strategic initiatives

  • Attend, participate and challenge monthly cabinet governance forums for the auto product

  • Develop and execute compliance monitoring to provide insights into the residual compliance risk ratings

  • Review and provide compliance opinion on potential impact for technology outages and product lead changes

  • Work with complex business units, rules and regulations on moderate to high-risk compliance matters

  • Monitor and independently challenge the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies, or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management

  • Provide direction to business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change

  • Serve as a point of contact for risk, control, self-assessment questions tied to change management for Auto

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

  • Consult and engage business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change

  • Report findings and make recommendations to management or directors and appropriate committees

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

  • Work with complex business units, rules and regulations on moderate to high-risk compliance matters

  • Experience compiling data and analyses into executive presentations to drive accountability and action

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in risk management, regulatory consumer compliance and management consulting

  • Experience and understanding of auto lending business

  • Experience with digital banking platforms including online/mobile

  • Knowledge and understanding of lending policies, regulations, and compliance

  • Knowledge and understanding of Agile delivery frameworks and the challenges it can present in a highly regulated environment

  • Experience providing risk and/or compliance oversight for large system re-platforming initiatives

  • Experience developing, implementing and monitoring a risk-based compliance program to assure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory requirements

  • Experience performing credible challenge related to change management

  • Strong organizational and tracking skills to close out on agreed upon action items

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong networking skills and ability to bring the right subject matter experts to the table based on the change being implemented

  • Ability to create ad hoc compliance risk assessments and monitoring plans for complex, wide-reaching projects and/or initiatives

  • Ability to be a thought leader and proactively present concerns and escalations to senior management

  • JD, bachelor’s degree, Paralegal degree, certification or equivalent education

  • An active Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation or working toward getting the CRCM
