Ally Director - Security Release Management in Charlotte, North Carolina

The Opportunity As the Director of Security Release Management, you will be responsible for leading the overall Security Release Management function, including guiding the direction and strategy of Cyber Security Technology efforts that drive release/process optimization, development of user documentation, and empower other engineering teams to more efficiently and effectively keep Ally secure. You'll work closely with a team of specialists, including cyber engineers, development engineers, product owners, and various other relevant partners. The Work Itself The ideal candidate is an established leader, responsible for evolving, leading, and managing a release management team and associated processes. You are responsible for helping define the mission of your team, inspiring and motivating your team to pursue that mission, and setting strategic goals for them to achieve in that pursuit. You have a balanced understanding of business and technical objectives and your guidance is sought out because your decisions drive the best outcomes for both. * Lead the overall Security Release Management team, including all applicable organizational and technology management responsibilities from leading that team * Act as change agent, leading significant transformational initiatives within the organization * Provide thought leadership to align the Security Release Management function in support of business goals and objectives * Plan, monitor, execute and drive consistent processes across regularly scheduled and hot fix releases * Maintain exemplary channels of communications with all interested parties to ensure transparency and predictability * Drive communications around release readiness reviews, landmark reviews, and release go/no-go reviews * Collaborate with broader Release Management colleagues to devise, implement, and enforce standards * Developing new build and release pipelines * Maintaining formal release records to track release content * Devise and maintain release calendar * Supervise the development of user documentation that the technical writers and engineer develop together before publication * Direct summary reports of releases and present to management * Maintaining and evaluating tools supporting process automation for product release * Review and maintain standard operating procedures for the relevant elements of the program * Coordinate among teams responsible for security software development, product quality, application infrastructure, customer communication, and product messaging * Maintain detailed records of releases, including issues and remedies * Establish and use performance metrics to drive control enhancements and process improvements * Manage operating budgets, applicable vendor relationships, and technical resources in the execution of the team’s responsibilities * Provide feedback to others to make process improvements and drive greater consistency, stability, and quality across all Cyber Security Technology releases and changes The Skills You Bring * 7+ years’ experience in Release Management in complex software engineering and delivery environments * Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or similar technical degree; or equivalent work experience * General security certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc., strongly preferred * Understanding of Agile/Scrum/Scaled Agile Framework development processes * Operational and release management experience in an agile framework within a Financial Services, Technology, or FinTech company preferred * Experience in expanding release management practices across multiple products in multiple regions * Specialist in driving collaboration across security engineering, QA, and operations functional areas * You understand complexity and can simplify process, tools, and automation to enable feature velocity * You can work closely within a team environment to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined measurement criteria * You have excellent written communication, problem solving, process management, cross-team collaboration, and high customer empathy * Strive in a culture of innovation – always exploring ways to say yes and try out new ideas and living outside your comfort zone * You are comfortable handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment * You influence teams and groups outside your wider organization with your deep insight and critical thinking * Experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence, PowerBI, and ServiceNow * Solid ability to identify and manage risks, and to foresee and prevent problems How We’ll Have Your Back Ally's compensation program offers market-competitive base pay and pay-for-performance incentives (bonuses) based on achieving personal and company goals.
