Job Summary

Provides professional, competent anesthesia care to a wide variety of patients. Treats patients from neonatal to the geriatric population, requiring surgical, obstetrical and other anesthesia services. Possesses additional training, education and/or experience in the provision of anesthesia care to patients who present with complex and unique anesthetic requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Provides anesthesia care to patients who present with complicated, pre-existing disease, advanced disease states and/or who present with complex and unique anesthetic requirements.

  • Researches, communicates, instructs and coordinates the anesthetic care for these patients with their anesthesia colleagues.

  • Demonstrates clinical methods for student registered nurse anesthetists so that they may gain experience in the provision of anesthesia care to these patients.

  • Performs additional departmental duties pertinent to these patients as directed by Leadership.

Physical Requirements

Able to work in a fast paced surgical setting. Requires walking, standing, lifting and handling of supplies and equipment.

Education, Experience and Certifications

License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina required. Successful completion of a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs, certified by the Council on Certification or, who is re-certified by the Council on Recertification required. Master's Degree in Nursing required. Additional training, education and/or experience will be documented with credentials, certification, continuing education and/or experience. 3 years CRNA experience required. BLS and ACLS HCP from AHA required
