Wells Fargo Credit Risk & Approval Director- Finance, Chief Risk Officer Group in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Credit Risk & Approval Director for the role of Group Senior Credit Officer within the Investment Portfolio /Treasury Credit and Counterparty Credit Risk team. The position covers credit risk oversight primarily for the Investment Portfolio, including managing a team of credit officers responsible for reviewing investment and lending creditworthiness, managing the credit approval process, maintaining high credit standards, monitoring individual exposures, and providing ongoing portfolio level updates. The position also includes responsibility for overseeing the process for credit allowance for debt securities and credit risk measurement and ensuring maintenance of credit standards and adherence to policy and procedure requirements.

The team is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and highly self-motivated individual with experience in credit risk, various credit products, strong analytical skills, and solid problem-solving capabilities. An individual possessing strong leadership and communication skills will excel in this role as they will interact with a vast number of peers, senior leadership, and stake holders spanning across Credit Risk, Business Units, Finance, Treasury, Operations, and Audit groups.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and develop a specialized team of professional individual contributors with focus on investment and lending products, primarily Municipal Products, Structured Products, and interbank credit exposures.

  • Provide service for cross-functional stakeholders and internal partners associated with formulating and establishing group credit and lending policies and procedures

  • Lead Credit Risk team by making strategic decisions to resolve highly complex issues

  • Interpret and develop a range of credit risk policies, procedures and standards for functions and incorporate requirements into credit oversight responsibilities

  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced credit officers

  • Lead team to achieve goals

  • Interact with various internal stake holders including senior leadership, Credit Risk, Business Units, Finance, Treasury, Operations, and Audit groups

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Credit Risk

  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Credit Risk or lending experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4+ years of Management experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven front line or independent risk management (IRM) experience in building, leading, collaborating, and engaging with a high-performing specialized team of professionals focused on investment and lending products.

  • Significant experience in reviewing and managing credit risk.

  • Knowledge and understanding of ever-evolving regulatory environments and governance processes.

  • Experience interpreting and developing a range of credit risk policies, procedures and standards for investment and lending products.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously while applying critical thinking.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience presenting to senior management and other stakeholders.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$207,900.00 - $431,900.00
