The Opportunity The Assistant General Counsel ("Mortgage AGC") will report to the Associate General Counsel for Mortgage and assist in providing legal support to the Mortgage line of business. The Mortgage AGC will support the Mortgage Originations and Servicing Oversite teams, including supporting product development, marketing, complaints, contracts and regulatory changes. The location for this position will be Charlotte, North Carolina, Detroit, Michigan or Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. Some travel required. The Work Itself * Provide legal support to the Ally Bank Mortgage line of business on various legal matters including: * Provide practical and timely legal guidance on legal risks and issues * Review escalated complaint responses * Review marketing materials * Handling certain compliance-related matters, including reviewing internal policies and training materials * Draft and negotiate vendor contracts * Serve as a trusted business partner and creative problem-solver * Collaborate with other members of the Legal Staff and leverage outside counsel, as needed. The Skills You Bring * Juris Doctor from a top tier law school * Bar membership in good standing * 7+ years experience preferably including both law firm and inhouse roles. * Experience representing residential mortgage lenders, banks or consumer finance companies required. Experience in both mortgage loan origination and servicing functions is strongly preferred. * Knowledge of relevant industry standards, federal statutes and regulations, including Reg. B, Reg. X, Reg. Z, FCRA, FDCPA and CFPB Rules and Guidance.
