Job Summary:

An entry level technician to perform cleaning & inspection of HVAC compressor components. Operates in all workstations within the cleaning and inspection department by being certified and able to flex to those stations, operate cleaning equipment, be able to read technical drawings and documents to inspect components parts for conformance to dimensional requirements and sort out non-conforming components. Must understand and be able to use precision measuring tools to qualify product components for use while meeting production goals for takt and cycle time. The individual must have good problem-solving skills and the ability to strategically plan ahead. The individual will be responsible for evaluating options to resolve production/quality problems pertaining to cleaning/inspection operations and determining the best course of action to ensure safety, quality, and production. They must be able to make judgement calls on parts acceptance based on visual perceptions and historical knowledge. The individual must have the ability to make good decisions and understand when to involve other resources, such as maintenance, quality, EHS, engineering and supervision. Must be able to operate, perform routine maintenance, and accomplish basic troubleshooting of a variety of cleaning and part finish processing equipment. Must be active in training of other employees and helping them gain experience and knowledge.

A cleaning and inspection technician needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. Knowledge of mechanics. And the proper use and care of precision measurement tools is an advantage. Respect for safety precautions and all safety rules is required.

A qualified technician for this position should ideally have some prior experience in mechanical assembly/disassembly and experience in an industrial production environment. This position will include performing work content in compressor cleaning operations meeting quality and productivity requirements. Work may be in the Compressor Cleaning area or in Compressor Disassembly. Work content includes, but is not limited to, removing gaskets from parts, loading and unloading parts from various pieces of equipment such as blasting machine and parts washers, visually inspecting, sorting and identifying parts, and disassembling compressors and/or compressor component sub-assemblies. Must be willing to cross train to provide flexibility within the area and be willing to work hours needed to meet business needs.

The goal is to ensure effective production operations that are safe, efficient, produce consistently high quality products and optimize procedures.

T his role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.

Responsibilities Include:

Knowing and following all applicable environmental, health, and safety (EHS) rules in the performance of the job.

Participating and fully supporting safety programs (ex. BBS).

Being punctual and reliable by observing all work rules.

Reading mechanical assembly drawings, production documents (ex.: Operational Method Sheets), work instructions, and quality documentation (ex.: assembly Travelers) to understand specifications and requirements of output.

Learning and following the proper sequence of events/actions (SOE’s) for the completion of each assigned job.

Taking measurements and completing production/quality documentation to record key measurements & operations during inspection.

Correctly using and maintaining tools/equipment necessary for cleaning and inspection operations.

Maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas.

Checking output to ensure consistency with specifications and identifying defects.

Keeping records of approved and defective component parts.

Performing routine maintenance to production equipment and making minor adjustments/repairs to equipment as needed.

Identifying and communicating maintenance and repair needs for production equipment to help prevent down-time.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. (Required)

A minimum of 1 year of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (Required)

Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items, approximately 50 lbs. (Required)

Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot using drawings, method sheets, assembly drawings and other technical documentation. (Required)

Experience using precision measuring tools (Preferred)

Knowledge of specialized manufacturing processes, such as media blasting, finish tumbling, and operation of automatic and semi-automatic processing equipment would be a benefit. (Preferred)

Good aptitude for learning and performing cleaning and inspection of mechanical components.

Experience in using manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines to clean and inspect components in an industrial production environment is preferred.

A working knowledge of mechanics, mechanical components, and mechanical systems is an advantage in this role.

A basic understanding and ability in the proper use and care of tools, (ex.: hand tools, torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, etc.).

A basic understanding and ability in the proper use and care of precision measurement tools (e.g. veneer scale micrometers, calipers, dial gages, thread gages, and “go/no-go” gauges) to take accurate measurements is a plus.

Ability to read technical mechanical assembly drawings and production documentation (ex.: Operation Method Sheets, work orders, Job Safety Hazard Analysis).

Requires the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot using drawings, method sheets, assembly drawings and other technical documentation. Knowledge of specialized manufacturing processes, such as media blasting, finish tumbling, and operation of automatic and semi-automatic processing equipment would be a benefit.
