POSITION OVERVIEW :
Following specific client requirements, will perform well-defined and sometimes difficult inspection tasks, including monitoring quality control procedures. Inspects various facets of work from manufacturer qualifications and process to on the jobsite and performs continuous surveillance of the commodities being received. The inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Documents nonconformance and may participate in discussions to determine appropriate resolution. Inspection activities are usually concentrated in one of the following areas: manufacturing processes, commodities produced e.g. pipe, valve fittings, large complex packages such as rotating machinery, etc. The ability to travel to field sites is expected. Would need to live near a large airport. Performs work in safe manner and is cognizant of public safety, which include COVID-19 protocols.
Performs on-site and remote inspections of manufacturing processes, validating their procedures, ISO certifications and other client requirements.
Depending on the certification, may perform destructive and nondestructive tests on metals and other materials through magnaflex, dye penetrant, radiographic, tension and compression, paint thickness, and resistivity.
Performs surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding, and grade. Inspects and monitors piling installation to ensure location and bearing. Validates piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.
Inspects electrical installations to ensure proper grounding, circuit integrity, and adherence to statutory and customer regulations.
Performs continuing inspection of painting and insulation to ensure thickness and coverage continuity.
Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
Verifies equipment alignment and balancing operations. May participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
May participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
QA/QC related field and 3+ years of related experience on large projects involving pipe, valves, fittings and large complex machinery, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience required.
Requires formal certification from an independent organization, depending on type of inspection assignment as noted in the job posting.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, material and engineering specifications and be familiar with quality management processes related to area of assignment.
