Overview Provide a wide array of professional services to assist students and alumni in securing employment including fall, spring, and summer internships, externships, judicial clerkships, diversity fellowships and full-time post-graduate employment. Our graduates and alumni serve in the private, public, non-profit, and public interest sectors, primarily in the tri-state area. This is a full-time, on-campus position. Responsibilities Meet with students on a regular basis, communicating opportunities and providing individualized career counseling and tailored career planning to law students and alumni with regard to legal professional opportunities, including providing guidance and advice about application and job search strategies and techniques, interviewing, resumes and networking. Record, update and report data to track students' and graduates' counseling appointments and employment outcomes. Plan, design, organize, implement, market, and attend educational and informational career development programs and events for law students and alumni, and collaborate in developing short- and long-term strategies to address trends and changes in the legal marketplace. Develop, draft, and review written resources, to assist students and alumni in their job search. Maintain visibility of the Career & Professional Development Office in the legal marketplace and within the Law School by participating in various external and internal events, including law school committees, student groups, and faculty and staff initiatives. Assist in harvesting legal employment opportunities for students and alumni. Work with the Director of Employer Relations to maintain current employer relations and to develop new employer contacts and employment opportunities for students and alumni. Assist in the clerkship application process. Engage in outreach to legal employers and alumni to determine employment needs and encourage recruitment and hiring of Touro Law students and alumni. Collect graduate employment data and supporting documentation in compliance with ABA and NALP guidelines. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to accommodate all student programs. Qualifications Education/ Experience Juris Doctor. Admission to the New York State Bar or any other State Bar. Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking. Ability to interact effectively and develop relationships with a diverse population, including students, faculty, staff, and employers. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to develop and implement programs and resources. Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple deadlines and constituencies. Knowledge of the current trends in the legal profession and ability to translate that knowledge to counsel alumni and students regarding their career development. Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills. Previous career counseling or other related experience is helpful. Familiarity with Symplicity a plus. Travel For events and conferences. Maximum Salary USD $75,000.00/Yr. Minimum Salary USD $60,000.00/Yr.
