PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Manager in direction of all functional areas, including assisting with the master scheduling, coordinating multiple shifts, managing and providing feedback to staff, monitoring of temporary staffing levels, and staffing assignments in general.
Support the development of proposals (RFP's/SLA's) by providing accurate assumptions, estimate and schedule resources, and participate in pre and post-project reviews, and RFP planning sessions.
Identify and recommend solutions for interdepartmental schedule problems (Product Line, Production Control, Development, Printing, etc.), priority requests, or any customer requirements not being met.
Work with designated representatives to reach daily/weekly production expectations and monitor the department's process flow while maintaining the highest level of quality in all aspects of the area's operation.
Assist in the development, maintenance, and presentation of performance metrics.
Act as the communication liaison for new temporary employee assignments, nonexempt staff, product line staff, and management.
Interdepartmental contact to exchange ideas and information and discuss sharing of resources.
Contact with customers, Product Line, and Production Control to gather and exchange information to discuss and solve problems, as well as look for opportunities for productivity and cost improvements.
Identify and communicate inconsistent project implementation via specifications or process.
Initiate, monitor, review, and recommend changes to project rate standards while looking for opportunities for continuous improvement.
Contact and review with supply management and vendors any equipment enhancements or failures.
Review, revise, maintain and direct RFT & Temporary employee training programs and orientations.
Identify, review and audit changes and enhancements to the department 'Desk Manual' and procedures.
Assume coordination responsibility for all department tasks including operational responsibility for the department in absence of the manager.
Assist as needed with Oracle support.
Participate in departmental stretching program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
May be required to work off shifts during peak processing seasons.
May be required to work in Iowa City for brief periods of time.

Direction received from: Manager Production Operation
Direction of others: Provide leadership, training and guidance to lower level

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE (basic qualifications necessary to do job)
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred.
Three years of experience in the areas of production, customer service, and/or operations is preferred.
Excellent Leadership and communication skills and the ability to communicate with employees at all levels.
Preferred experience should involve senior level coordination of others.
Understanding of metrics and performance measure reporting preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of PCs required, primarily MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Experience creating and running MS Access queries and reports.
Experience setting up computers and peripherals, diagnosing both computer software and hardware problems.
Extensive knowledge of barcoding and scanner technology preferred.
Experience utilizing the web to do research for new technology and purchasing equipment.
Oracle knowledge and experience preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to routinely lift up to 65 pound boxes, push carts weighing 600 pounds, and move pallets weighing approximately 2,000 pounds with a pallet jack.
Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, as required.
