MetLife Lead Business Analyst- Data & Analytics in Cary, North Carolina

Role Value Proposition:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Business Analyst to support the Data and Analytics Organization. This role will be responsible for working across key stakeholders across to manage highly complex IT financial and operation portfolios to ensure budget and forecast accuracy, appropriate billing to project codes, alignment of resources to projects, recommendation regarding change request and financial feasibility, head count reporting for senior leadership, build and monitor utilization forecasting models, and contract management. The candidate will be given the freedom to enhance the current financial reporting process. They will be required to present findings and make financial recommendations to leadership based on their analysis. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to collaborate and communicate across multiple areas, develop consistency and accuracy across all projects, and initiate/implement improvements in a variety of financial and metric utilization processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary financial, accounting, and metric development resource for the Disability Evolution Program and other programs within Data and Analytics. Perform monthly financial and operational reporting across large, complex IT programs working with various partners to capture key inputs and reconcile data.

  • Manage and create monthly financial reports across the Data and Analytics portfolio. Reconcile budget, forecast, and actuals. Participate in monthly financial/operating reviews. Be the "go to" person for queries, provide recommendation to leadership supported by in-depth analysis.

  • Quickly adapt and understand business systems, operations, and financials processes. Identify gaps in processes and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Facilitate tracking and communication of useful financial and metric information to support business decision-making.

  • Collaborate with program owners to develop annual budgets and strategic operating plans.

  • Manage direct expense spend by collaborating on statement of work development, validating and submitting accurate accruals/invoice. Update forecasts according to plan.

  • Build and monitor utilization models to forecast resource availability.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Skilled at expert financial, operational, and metric management of multiple complex projects against tight timelines and across a matrix organization, analytical and interpretation skills with ability to distill complex analysis for senior leadership

  • Advanced Excel skills along with strong financial systems and business process knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Management Information Systems or relevant field with a solid understanding of applied accounting and finance concepts; Master's Degree in Business Administration is a plus

  • 5+ years of progressive financial experience, including financial planning and analysis; operational metric/KPI, operational accounting experience supporting complex programs across multiple organizations

  • Ability to extract data from various source systems and complete reconciliations, analysis and reports. Ability to learn new analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc. Ideal fit will be an Excel expert comfortable with advanced data manipulation functions


  • Experience using Clarity and JIRA

  • Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, Power BI)

  • Master’s Degree in related field, MBA
