    Job Description

UTILITY WORKER 2, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to support the daily functions of the building operations team within CSAIL’s Infrastructure Group (TIG). Will ensure the smooth and efficient running of lab facilities and operations, including delivering physical U.S. mail and packages throughout CSAIL; monitoring and responding to help desk operations’ work orders and emails related to tasks within job responsibilities; working with MIT Facilities on building related issues and responding to general maintenance requests throughout the building; providing secondary support for room setups and A/V technical assistance; maintaining printers; and scheduling repair technicians and working with outside vendors on projects.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: graduation from high school or its equivalent; two years of applicable experience; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; discretion and good judgment with sensitive, confidential, and/or valuable materials; experience with and ability to operate video conferencing hardware and audio-visual equipment; ability to provide first-level support to troubleshoot A/V connection issues on both MacOS and Windows systems; familiarity with Microsoft Office (inclusive of Word, Excel and PowerPoint); and ability to learn new programs and acquire software skills as necessary. Must be able to recognize the service needs of the research group and how it impacts other areas at MIT; work proactively and independently; prioritize workload; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; successfully relate to a diverse group of MIT community members; work in a team-based environment across all levels with faculty, staff, and others including members of external organizations; and move items weighing up to fifty pounds.
