    Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory-Tsai Lab, to join the Environmental and Social Epigenetics (EASE) subgroup of the laboratory of Professor Li-Huei Tsai (https://tsailaboratory.mit.edu/) . The subgroup’s mission is to determine how early life environments influence long-term health and well-being. To accomplish this, EASE studies how the cellular, molecular, and epigenetic landscape of the developing brain is modified by different mouse models of early life stress and resilience. Techniques employed include RNA-sequencing, chromatin profiling, confocal immunohistochemistry, and neurobehavioral analysis. Will be expected to be comfortable with animal-based research and be required to carry out mouse colony maintenance, mouse behavioral analysis, and mouse surgeries/dissections. Will also be expected to gain proficiency in the performance and analysis of molecular techniques like quantitative PCR, Western blotting, gel electrophoresis, and RNA-sequencing; and to complete other duties as required. In addition to providing an environment for carrying out science, EASE hopes to mentor and support research assistants in achieving their professional goals in science and/or medicine.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in neuroscience or other biological science, at least two years of experience in a laboratory, and exposure to some of the techniques mentioned above or willingness gain proficiency in these methods.
