    Job Description

SENIOR FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR, Mathematics, to set priorities for finance team and propose new strategies and solutions for process improvements. Will be responsible for management of all sponsored research projects and non-sponsored funds; developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and process improvements; performing high-level financial work (e.g., financial modeling, analysis, budget development, etc.); ensuring that all funding is managed and used with full adherence to MIT policies/procedures; partnering on creating strategic goals and plans for financial and research administration; supporting strategy development and decision-making through financial modeling and data analysis; developing and implementing short-term operational strategies and plans for finance team; hiring, supervising, mentoring, and training financial staff; preparing budget reports, budget forecasts, financial analysis, and fiscal year-end closing processes; presenting findings to senior management; managing proposals, under-recovery, cost sharing, and subcontracts; developing and assisting with finance training and education; ensuring compliance regarding sponsored projects and gift administration/financial activities; and performing a variety of other duties. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; seven years’ financial management experience; financial experience at a decision-making level; excellent analytical, leadership, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; experience managing others or leading projects/programs/functions; attention to detail; and advanced-level knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Seek a hands-on manager with demonstrated supervisory experience who is able to effectively build support through discussion and compromise, including on day-to-day matters and when there are varying points of view; work independently and as part of a team; and multitask and meet deadlines in sometimes stressful situations. PREFERRED: master’s degree; MIT experience; and experience with (Kuali) Coeus, SAP, Cognos, and NIMBUS.
