SENIOR DEV/OPS ENGINEER, MIT Open Learning-Engineering Department, to join a team with big ambitions to redefine the use of technology in teaching and learning at MIT and beyond. Will participate in the design, architecture, implementation, and delivery of some of the most exciting teaching and learning platforms at MIT, including MITx Residential, MITx Online, MIT OpenCourseWare, MIT Bootcamps, and MIT xPRO. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying architectural components of infrastructure and data platforms that support the mission of Open Learning; automating configuration and deployment of applications using modern infrastructure tools and platforms (e.g., Consul, Vault, Pulumi) in an AWS cloud environment; building tooling and document workflows to support software engineers in developing production-ready, scalable applications with flexible APIs; application support, release engineering, and systems administration in a 24x7 environment; and advancing best practices with the engineering team through participation in architecture, technical design, and code reviews. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least seven years’ revevant experience; solid knowledge of UNIX/Linux, especially in virtualized environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Heroku; operational experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and ElasticSearch; experience with monitoring and logging systems using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, etc.; and experience supporting developers and development environments. PREFERRED: experience with Python and the Django framework; experience with continuous integration and testing via tools like Concourse, GitHub Actions, etc.; experience with data pipeline concepts; interest in designing and adapting software to be twelve factor applications; and knowledge of best practices regarding infrastructure and application security in a cloud environment.
