    Job Description

PROGRAM DIRECTOR, POSTDOCTORAL CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, Career Advising and Professional Development (https://capd.mit.edu/) (CAPD), to serve as the primary career services liaison for postdoctoral scholars. Will manage and deliver a range of services to enhance professional development and career competencies and strengthen partnerships/collaborations with employers, faculty, postdoctoral organizations, and groups; collaborate closely with the assistant director of graduate student career services and professional development team; conduct individual career advising sessions; create and deliver an annual calendar of workshops/events/seminars/certificates; develop employment preparation materials and strategies and print and online career resources; conduct assessments and evaluate data and outcomes; prepare budget and funding proposals; and identify and create relationships/contacts with employing organizations, graduate student and postdoc groups, committees, staff, and academic departments. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; five years’ career center or higher education experience related to career and professional development--preferably working with graduate students/postdocs--or relevant industry experience; understanding of the potential career trajectories of postdocs in science and engineering; familiarity with career services’ online technology/management systems; knowledge of career development theory and the job search process for international postdocs; strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; and knowledge of cross-cultural and bias issues and ability to work with diverse populations. Must be able to identify and assess career concerns from a holistic perspective; collaborate as a team member; work effectively with students, postdocs, staff, and faculty; listen carefully and communicate tactfully; and establish rapport with and help postdocs develop their career plans. PREFERRED: master’s/doctoral degree, experience developing and implementing career and professional development programs and providing career/academic advising, knowledge of corporate relations, and experience with the MIT community. Job #24010-9 Salary range: $80,000 - 96,000, based on experience A hybrid schedule, with both remote and on-campus work, is available.
