POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), to join Professor Dirk Englund’s Quantum Photonics Group (QPG) (https://www.rle.mit.edu/qp/) . Will pursue experimental and theoretical research in advanced photonics, quantum information science and engineering, and machine learning/AI. Much of the work is heavy in computing (see GitHub (https://github.com/qpg-mit/) ). Will collaborate with a team of forty-plus scientists, engineers, and students; produce work for publication and present work at scientific conferences; and mentor graduate students.
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, or closely related science and engineering discipline; experience working with optics or photonics and an understanding of Fourier Optics, integrated photonics, or atomic systems; and proficiency with programming and software for electromagnetic simulation (preferably Python, MATLAB). Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment with staff and students from across MIT, other universities, government research, and private industry. PREFERRED: experience with integrated photonics design, modeling (Luminerical, MEEP, etc.), and layout (gdspy, etc.), free-space optics (Zemax), and RF design (HFSS). Job #2212811/18/22
