Biogen Manager, Executive & Equity Compensation in Cambridge, Massachusetts

About This Role

The Manager, Executive & Equity Compensation works to support a variety of compensation-related activities within the Executive Compensation Team. This role will be expected to manage and execute on a wide variety of day-to-day compensation actions, projects and initiatives. This role will report to the Executive Compensation Lead and will be expected to navigate effectively across a multi-faceted team environment.   This role will report into Associate Director, Executive Compensation.

What You’ll Do

•    Provide analytical and other support in all aspects of executive compensation area. Work with the head of Executive Compensation and own preparation of certain materials for compensation committee meetings of the Board of Directors. May be asked to present materials to executive leadership teams.

•    Project manage the process for preparing annual disclosure materials, including the CD&A and proxy tables and other SEC disclosure requirements. Work with internal and external partners (e.g., employee benefits, finance, legal, external consultants, etc.) to compile information and provide analytical support.

•    Support the annual compensation and performance management cycle for senior executives, including market competitive review and compensation recommendation preparations for compensation committee meetings of the Board.

•    Participate in executive compensation projects or initiatives. Provide support with data analysis, managing project plans, communications, and providing other types of project support.

•    Supports the Executive Compensation Lead and the team with executive job offers, job leveling, reorganizations, and other business-related compensation activities. Analyze market data and other factors to develop pay recommendations for executives at Vice President level and above. Work with HR partners, Talent Acquisitions for executive offers, promotions and/or other executive movement/actions that require compensation support.    

•    Works effectively with other compensation team members, as well as the HR Operations, Talent Acquisition and HRBP professionals on projects as assigned.

•    Develops a strong understanding on Biogen’s policies and processes within all aspects of the Compensation function and works effectively across the broader HR organization.

•    Create and maintain LTI and ESPP dashboards within our equity compensation management platform. This includes learning processes for administering our long-term incentive programs. 

•     Review monthly and quarterly equity-related transactions for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and provide support for other required internal audits

•    Prepare quarterly dilution reports for management and the board of directors, while also providing other equity usage analyses and reports as needed for affiliate locations, external tax partners, SEC statements, and other project needs globally.

 

Who You Are

You are experienced in the compensation field and have a solution-oriented mindset. You possess strong analytical skills and have successfully developed digestible presentations for leadership. You are inquisitive and enjoy learning new things.

•    5-7 years of experience in compensation or a related field required. Experience in Biotechnology/pharmaceutical is a plus.

•    Knowledge and experience in executive or general compensation programs.  

•    Microsoft Excel expertise, with an ability to summarize data in a way that effectively frames a business case or recommendation to solve for an issue or challenge.

•    A high level of self-determination and the ability to challenge the status quo and “normal” way of doing things.

•    Experience in developing and presenting materials for executive leaders and experience in the creation of public disclosure materials.

•    An ability to simplify complex executive compensation considerations and communicate clearly to achieve results in a cross-functional and HR environment. 

•    Strong analytical skills which provide insights and formulate recommendations using data driven solutions.

•    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required.  MBA or other graduate degree preferred.
