Biogen HR Business Partner in Cambridge, Massachusetts

About This Role

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) will support the Business Intelligence & Operations (BI&O) group and the North American Neuropsychiatry franchise.  The HRBP will provide support to the Head of BI&O, the Head of the US Neuropsychiatry franchise, and their respective leadership teams, operating in highly matrixed environment. This individual will be actively engaged in building the Neuropsychiatry Franchise in collaboration with our external alliance partner (Sage).

The HR Business Partner will be accountable for HR service delivery for a combined population of approximately 300 employees including BI&O, Patient Services and the Neuropsychiatry franchise. This will include field employees, HQ groups and the North American Patient Services group based in RTP, North Carolina.

The HRBP owns and stewards the end-to-end HR agenda for the business including co-owning and creating the talent, organization and culture initiatives, lead organizational design and diagnostics, shape the reward system, deploy and manage the talent and people system. This role reports to the Head of Human Resources, North America.

This is a hybrid role that requires part-time work on-site

What You’ll Do

• Acts as a thought partner for the leadership to ensure the people and organization strategy is a key enabler to achieving the business results

• Drives business results by creating/implementing human resource initiatives tailored to business requirements

• Acts as an influential advisor and a credible activist identifying and driving change by owning end to end execution of the functional HR work

• Serves in a leadership capacity for the continuing roll out of Biogen's articulated goals, values, vision and culture while encouraging entrepreneurial, bold and prudent risk-oriented business activities

• Works with clients to implement and manage human resources processes, including the year-end performance management process including performance assessment, calibration and compensation planning. This includes total rewards and review (annual bonus and long-term incentives) as well as organization & HR Planning

• Builds working relationships with the HR Center of Excellence (COE) functions such as Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HR Shared Services, and People & Organizational Capability to roll out corporate-wide programs and ensure client’s needs are understood and met

• Ensures the business attracts, develops and retains high quality talent at all levels globally in a continuous pipeline to support the growth objectives, opportunities and strategies of the business

 • Works with clients and other HRBPs to manage and address employee relations issues

•  Coaches and counsel client management and employees

• Plays an active leadership role in the commitment to continuous improvement 

• Act a consultant and advisor with evolving and significant understanding of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to further learning and capability within client group, own function, and broader organization

• Work in partnership with DE&I, the HR community, and the ERNs to build a strong internal and external reputation as a great place to work for all and cultivate a strong external network of appropriate D&I connections

• Utilize the HR dashboard to understand diversity metrics, and review data regularly to reinforce and inspire action, accountability and outcomes

 

 

Who You Are

You are a consultative Human Resources leader who is experienced with providing a variety of HR solutions to meet business needs.  You love analyzing data, identifying continuous improvement opportunities, and excel in building relationships with business stakeholders in a dynamic environment.  You appreciate being challenged, developing others and want to make an impact.  You have a global and inclusive mindset, and want to work for a mission driven company.

• 10+ years’ experience in progressively responsible roles in human resources, including human resources business partner or “generalist” roles. Prior experience supporting a commercial organization strongly preferred.

• Experience in biotech or pharma industry is strongly preferred

• Must be a self-motivated and self-confident individual who is comfortable operating with minimal direction and who thrives in a dynamic environment as a leader influencing change and transformation

 • Credible and savvy business person who will be perceived as a trusted consultant and functional expert to senior management

• Knowledgeable in leading edge business practices, trends and information; aware of reward and benefits strategies and innovative tactics being applied in the marketplace

• Able to build credibility among senior management and peers to gain commitment and support for major initiatives while placing company’s interests first

• An individual of unquestioned personal and business integrity who will be viewed as trustworthy both within the company and externally

• Mission-driven individual with high energy and strong levels of perseverance; works toward both individual and team goals

• Capable of rolling up one’s sleeves to do whatever it takes to drive results; not hindered by protocol or process  

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in industrial/organizational psychology, human resource management, business or a related field is required.  Advanced degree a plus, not required
