FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 2, Aeronautics and Astronautics, to conduct monthly financial reviews and implement controls for research and discretionary accounts, ensuring compliance with departmental and institutional guidelines; audit account activity, investigating discrepancies; maintain account files, including records of transactions, and relevant financial correspondence; verify credit card charges for purchases, ensuring proper documentation and adherence policies; assist Financial Officers (FO) on the timely resolution of any charge discrepancies or unauthorized transactions; assist FOs to review and approve travel expense reports, RFPs, procurement requisitions and journal vouchers, to confirm completeness, accuracy, and compliance with institutional policies; assist the Senior Financial Officer to manage department master agreements; and provide support and guidance to department staff on purchasing procedures and the proper completion of financial documents.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance; excellent organizational and communications, both oral and written, skills, financial aptitude, and attention to detail; interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities; ability to work as part of a team and to interact effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, and students; ability to work efficiently both under minimal supervision and as a member of a small cross-functional team; proficiency with financial and database software; working knowledge of Excel; and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); and broad understanding of Cognos Reports. PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3-5 years of experience working in academic or other non-profit organization; and knowledge of and experience with financial systems (e.g. b2p, SAPweb, SapGUI, Atlas, Kuali-Coeus).
