POSITION: Director, Software Engineering

WORKSITE: 60 Acorn Park Drive, Cambridge, MA 02140

JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead all engineering teams within the Product Technology organization;

  • Quickly assess and provide direction on technology challenges within the teams in their organization;

  • Grow the culture of the engineering teams to one driven by curiosity, technical excellence, and a desire to benefit Forrester’s business;

  • Work regularly with executive leadership to understand our evolving business objectives and ensure that the engineering organization is building platform-driven products to support these objectives;

  • Lead 3-5 collaborative teams built of innovative engineers with strong problem-solving skills;

  • Interview and hire software engineers;

  • Mentor, review code, and grow the skills of the engineering managers that lead their teams;

  • Establish software development goals, then drive Agile development and architecture best practices;

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of a wide variety of projects;

  • Partner with the product management and other technology leaders to set a vision, establish a strategy, and execute on product goals;

  • Communicate goals with engineering managers as well as executive leadership; and

  • Delegate project tasks across teams and across organizations.

Telecommuting permitted up to 40%

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field followed by five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Director, Software Engineering-related occupation.

In alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field followed by three years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Director, Software Engineering-related occupation.

Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:

  • Leading Agile product development teams composed of software engineers building out web front ends, middleware, data pipelines, testing suites, and DevOps;

  • Utilizing cloud-native development experience in web technologies built on AWS, Azure, or GCP services;

  • Delivering API-first, platform-first architecture and development solutions.

  • Team and people leadership. Lead teams and individual contributors by example, enabling them to grow as an organization and within their careers.

  • Managing vendors as they integrate in with development teams, and augment complete features of platforms being built.

  • Building technology solutions on both traditional MVC and event-driven, and serverless models.
