    Job Description

DIRECTOR, ACADEMIC AREA-MSA, Sloan School of Management-Management Science, to develop and maintain on-going partnerships with all area faculty to understand their teaching needs in order to advance their work by connecting and creating collaborations with other Sloan departments and assigning appropriate administrative support. Will collaborate with the senior director of academic administration, other area directors and area managers, and assistant directors to identify opportunities to create greater consistency in procedures and business strategies across the three areas and thirteen faculty groups and greater alignment and coordination between departments drawing upon faculty time; concurrently identify local and systemic inefficiencies and lead or delegate problem solving to improve operating workflow; lead the academic areas’ administrative and support staff, with a focus on providing high-quality service to the faculty, efficient operations, and workload balancing; directly manage a team of associate directors, assistant directors, and/or coordinators and approximately 15-20 support staff; and provide broad financial oversight over all cost centers within the academic areas amounting to approximately 200 accounts per area. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least seven years’ administration experience and at least five managing and leading large teams; experience working in/with faculty in a research-intensive academic environment; demonstrated success working with senior administration and faculty/other academic stakeholders and influencing and generating consensus, trust, and buy-in to advance organizational goals; demonstrated strategic planning experience leading significant projects; excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills; experience with day-to-day operations; and proficiency using technology and software to facilitate administrative and research processes. PREFERRED: MIT/Sloan experience and understanding of faculty and academic issues. Job #23960-11Salary range: $116,650 - 155,990 - 195,330, based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity. Generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check.4/25/24
