    Job Description

DIGITAL PRESERVATION COORDINATOR, Libraries, manages the Comprehensive Digital Preservation Service (CDPS), including Archivematica and Digital Preservation Storage; collaborates with Information Technology Services (ITS), vendors, and internal teams to ensure digital collections are securely preserved and accessible long-term; develops preservation workflows, monitors system integrity, and leads troubleshooting efforts; co-leads the Digital Sustainability Team, focusing on addressing risks to digital collections and ensuring perpetual access; contributes to repository ecosystem planning, test software updates, and create preservation strategies, while supporting open scholarship initiatives; and advises on best practices and collaborates with content stewards to meet MIT’s digital sustainability goals.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: master’s degree in library, information science or a relevant field, with at least three years of experience in libraries or archives, specifically with digital preservation workflows, technologies, and policy; have a working knowledge of digital preservation systems like Archivematica or Preservica and be familiar with standards such as the OAIS Reference Model and PREMIS; demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and handle relationships and conflicts productively; and embrace values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. PREFERRED: master’s with a focus on digital preservation and participation in professional communities like iPres or NDSA. Job #24450-8
