Biogen Associate Director, Contracting Strategy in Cambridge, Massachusetts
About This Role
The Associate Director will be responsible for developing the contracting and pricing strategy for Biogen’s Specialty portfolio and will report to the Director of Contracting Strategy within the Pricing, Policy, and Contracts team, part of the Market Access & Reimbursement team.
This individual will lead the development, evolution, and socialization of a cross channel contracting strategy for their respective therapeutic areas. Other key components of this role will include supporting the annual business and strategic plans, vendor management, and collaboration with a variety of business partners. This individual will be required to work cross-functionally to ensure organizational alignment, including collaboration with other Market Access & Reimbursement teams along with Finance and Brand colleagues. He/She will be responsible for translating complex analytics to succinct insights that can help support leadership discussions around Market Access strategies and tactics.
What You’ll Do
Develop payer and provider contracting strategies to facilitate patient access for Biogen’s products.
Develop models to evaluate the impact of potential pricing & contracting approaches on key stakeholders across all channels.
Independently manage projects from start to finish.
Work cross-functionally within the North America Organization to align on US market access approach across products.
Partner with Global Value & Access as well as Public Policy & Government Affairs (PPGA) to align on assumptions and strategy development.
Serve as a subject matter expert on contracting approaches.
Present recommendations to senior leadership for approval.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate is a critical thinker and self-starter who is willing and able to clearly and concisely communicate complex contracting topics. He/she values cross-functional partnership and is capable of prioritizing multiple tasks to meet individual and team goals.
7+ years of prior experience in market access, value and access, contracting strategy, strategic pricing, data analytics and/or closely related areas within a pharmaceutical company or consultancy
Education: BA/BS Required; master’s or higher preferred
Ability to develop and communicate brand-specific pricing/contracting strategy informed by primary and secondary research and aligned with overall business and organizational objectives
Strong understanding of the US payer and channel landscape
Exceptional analytics and technical data skills with creating and/or supporting complex models
Experience with conducting primary payer and provider market research
Experience working with market access datasets
Highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively to translate complex ideas to influence multiple stakeholder environments
Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional and cross-team relationships
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of Buy & Bill and ASP(average sales price) dynamics
