Human Resources Business Partner




The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle support to our local and global HR initiatives. Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, the HRBP will provide support and effective development and delivery of local HR programs for our Western Canada operations. They will be a strong relationship manager with the ability to align business objectives with human resources best practices.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to;

Employee Relations:

  • Point of contact for any employee relations issues concerns including but not limited to workplace conflict resolution, discipline, and attendance management.

  • Investigates, manages and mitigates potential risk with disciplinary employee related issues.

  • Support and counsel people leaders on disability management, performance management and coordinated return to work plans.

  • Take the lead on investigating and resolving ER issues. Employee engagement:

  • Conduct regular branch visits.

  • Conduct departure exit interview to identify initiatives that will help reduce turnover and increase engagement.

  • Partner with Business leaders on employee survey results. Support the business on action planning and provide HR recommendations based on analyzed results.

  • Partners with internal corporate partners (ex. Talent Management Programs, HR Systems, Compensation, Staff Development and Leadership Development) to support the implementation of ad hoc initiatives to meet business objectives. HR Strategic Initiatives:

  • Champion Wellness and continue to provide strategic oversight on the program.

  • Partner with Senior HR Business Partner on building people manager capabilities, Talent Management, succession planning and driving industry leading onboarding and inclusion practices. HR Analytics:

  • Collaborate with District Administrators on all employee related administration

  • Analyze data – retention, turnover, sickness etc.

  • Provide Quarterly reporting on Headcount, Promotions and new hires

  • Provide detail on trends and provide summaries. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Human Resources Management or related field, or equivalent HR experience

  • 5+ years experience as an HR Business Partner position

  • Solid knowledge of Canadian employment law

  • Self-motivated; action and result-oriented; able to multi-task and manage/drive multiple projects simultaneously

  • Detail-oriented, organized. With strong prioritization, decision making and follow-up skills

  • Professional judgment and critical thinking

  • Good listening, fact-finding, conflict management and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel to field offices (Alberta and British Columbia)
