Canadian Tire Promotional Optimization Consultant in Calgary, Alberta

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manager, Promotional Optimization, this role’s primary function is strategic planning and optimization of promotional activity at SportChek. Leveraging expertise across merchandising, marketing and analytics teams, the promotional optimization consultant will provide analysis and build strategies to maximize the efficiency of national promotions and return on advertising spend. To achieve this, the role will present findings at regularly scheduled assessment meetings, outlining the steps to achieve category & department promo targets & financial objectives.

The Promotional Optimization Consultant is expected to make recommendations for offer optimization and if necessary, trade off changes between departments, marketing channels and calendar events. This role offers a high level of autonomy while delivering quality and efficiency in the promotional program.

  • The role will provide consultation for Merchandising and Marketing teams on offer selection, customer incentives and promotional strategy.

  • You will ensure promotions meet optimal product, price and frequency while best showcasing our assortment to maximize customer value, engagement, sales and profit objectives.

  • Organize & prepare regular marketing reviews. Facilitate recommendations with effective presentation, tracking and follow up to ensure stakeholders are executing the action plan.

  • Support the planning of Marketing content including flyer and postcard creative layout to ensure it meets financial targets and qualitative objectives.

What you’ve done

  • 3-5 years of experience in a marketing, product analyst or merchandising role, supporting data driven product analysis and providing consultation to business partners

  • Post-secondary education, University Degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Marketing or Finance

  • Strong business and marketing acumen combined with an understanding of the retail landscape and customer segments

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and confidently communicate recommendations in writing & verbally as well as articulate trade-offs

  • Excellent influencing, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Well-developed organizational skills with the proven ability to balance competing projects/demands

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and apply critical thinking to make recommendations with limited direction, within an approved framework

  • Experienced MS Office user (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) demonstrating the ability to transform data sets, perform analysis and effectively present findings to stakeholders in a business environment.

  • Experience with merchandising financials and analytics tools is an asset (Thoughtspot, PMM, JDA, Quantisense, Cognos, Power BI, Looker Studio)
