We're looking for a mission-driven Manager, Philanthropy who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Maintain a portfolio of donors and personally conduct cultivation visits, proposal and application submissions, solicitation calls and stewardship activities.

  • Ensure active pipeline of major donors by identifying prospects from daily/weekly gift reports; using criteria to mine the database to undercover prospects; reviewing donor lists from peer organizations; and using other strategies and database resources to identify new potential major donors.

  • Manage stewardship of major donor portfolio, ensuring that donors experience high-quality interactions that foster long-term engagement and investment. Develop methods to convey the impact of gifts and ensure that donors are kept up to date on key developments in CNIB Foundation's campaigns and priorities. Work with communications team to develop and update provincial donor e-wall and social media recognition. Ensure that details of recognition and stewardship plans, and gift agreements are documented and included in the moves management system.

  • Maintain donor records in Raisers Edge or Salesforce database: enter contact reports in donor records and ensure that next steps are scheduled for all active and prospective donors. Maintain accurate contact information for donors. Run reports based on gift capacity, giving history, outstanding contacts, and other criteria as needed.

  • Assist with strategy and logistics for annual galas and other special events as needed.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in fundraising, programming, and philanthropy.

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • University degree or College diploma in marketing and communications/ business administration or related field.

  • CFRA designation an asset.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a not-for-profit fundraising position.

  • Demonstrated experience writing funding proposals, grant applications, and stewardship materials.

  • Experience working with volunteers.

  • Experience coordinating events.

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and database computer applications including Raiser’s Edge or another CRM.

  • Superior relationship building skills, including the ability to relate effectively with people at all levels both internal and external to CNIB.

  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills, and the ability to effectively communicate to a diverse constituency.

  • Familiarity with comprehensive fundraising functions and regulations

  • A results-oriented focus, a driven attitude and an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising and problem solving.

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

  • Strong customer and donor-relations skills, including a proven ability to develop and maintain relationships and exercise discretion in interacting with donors, volunteers, and stakeholders.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Professional attitude, self-starter and adapts to fast paced environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and determining priorities.

  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.

  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

Work Environment

  • Willingness to work flexible hours.

  • Willingness to travel throughout the province, if required.
