Roger’s is seeking for an Information Security Specialist to join our Cyber Protection Center. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) at the Rogers Barlow Campus in Calgary.

The Rogers Information and Cyber Security Unit is seeking a highly motivated Cyber Security Specialist. This role is responsible for executing our existing cyber security program through the continual review and development of Rogers cyber security strategy and security incident response procedures. This role is equivalent to a SOC Tier 2 level specialist Reporting to the Director, Cyber Incident Response and Intelligence, the incumbent will be tasked to Rogers cyber–Incident Response, Forensic function, which includes the identification and application of threat intelligence information, building automation capabilities and leading continuous security improvement programs (SIP).

Who we're looking for:

  • Enhanced level triage and assessment of security events to determine risk to Rogers.

  • Utilize MITRE ATT&CK and cyber kill chain methodologies to effectively determine risk prioritized responses, investigate security events, and make clear recommendations on mitigation.

  • Monitor, investigate, and report security events with participation in root cause analysis.

  • Conduct day-to-day monitoring, analysis, and reporting on external threat intelligence.

  • Review and interpret alerts, events and system alarms while providing emergency response services, incident management, forensics, and analysis.

  • Produce detailed incident reports and technical briefs on security incidents and contribute to post incidents reviews and documentation.

  • Conduct research on cyber security industry publications and whitepapers to collect key statistics and relevant information to support strategy, planning and other cyber security activities.

  • Collaborate with and support internal teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and trusted external parties to facilitate two-way information sharing.

  • Understand and communicate security requirements, policies, standards and procedures to business and/or internal stakeholders.

What you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Management, or certification related to Cyber Security.

  • Understanding of security frameworks & standards such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain and Cyber Threat Intelligence Framework is an asset.

  • Knowledge of STIX/TAXII standard, JSON, Python, Scripting and YARA rules is an asset.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is an asset.

  • Experience with conducting research, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple sources, and documenting insights, trends and results in reports and briefings.

  • Experience with developing metrics, KRIs and KPIs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to articulate advanced technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences/stakeholders.

  • Ability to work with teams and independently to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with keen attention to detail and an ability to work in stressful situations.

  • Self-motivated with a 'can do’ attitude and a desire for continuous improvement and learning.

  • Previous experience in the telecommunications industry and/or broad cyber security experience is an asset.
