Canadian Tire Graphic Design Consultant III - (14 Month Contract) in Calgary, Alberta

What you'll do

We are looking for a dynamic print/graphic designer to join our team in strengthening and elevating our brands across all apparel commodities and categories. This designer will work closely with AVP of Design and all design team members with a focus on developing prints and graphics across several brands that align with company vision and seasonal direction. A key responsibility is to communicate with cross functional teams from concept to production to ensure company product standards are met and seasonal calendar timelines are maintained.

  • Collaborate with AVP of Design and design team members to establish seasonal creative direction and prepare seasonal mood boards based off market shopping and online trend research

  • Research seasonal key trends, colour, application techniques and innovations

  • Collaborate with AVP of Design and design team members to create prints and graphics for product lines that are brand right and align with seasonal direction

  • Partner with Brand team to align with brand guides and direction

  • Collaborate with external designer resources

  • Partner across functional departments, such as merchandising, production, product development and technical design

  • Facilitate in the selection of print/graphic application techniques and collaborate with product development regarding vendor capabilities

  • Prepare technical production artwork for prints/graphics that specify scale, sizing, placement, or any relevant technical application details

  • Enter and manage prints/graphics into PLM system as required

  • Assist in approving print/graphic strike offs, hand looms, and knit downs

  • Assist in the development of artwork for trims, hangtags, packaging, or branding

  • Manage calendar deliverables and workflow

  • All other duties as assigned

What you bring

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Suite, Illustrator and Photoshop is essential

  • Strong abilities in both graphic design and development of original artwork

  • Experience with color separation, color indexing, and preparation of artwork for textile application

  • Proven ability to maintain a high standard of design and productivity in a fast-paced work environment

  • Talent in understanding target customer by creating profitable product lines

  • Basic comprehension of garment construction and garment specifications

  • Must have an eye for detail, colour and creativity combined with fashion industry insight

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Some travel for trade shows and market shopping may be required

  • Degree in Fashion Design or Graphic Design

  • 5+ years working experience within a Fashion/Apparel Design role, Graphic/Textile Design role, or related position
