We are looking for an individual who is passionate about the development of digital transformation to support our site-based employees. You will be a key player to help accelerate the pace of digital technology adoption into the business areas using your ability to lead through influence in collaboration with internal and external partners. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for performing the development of the technology alternatives and facilitating and driving alignment among key stakeholders. All of this with the ultimate intent of helping our people to work efficiently and increase productivity!

You will use your expertise to:

  • Support opportunity identification and development of digital technology initiatives which are focused on front-line activities that aim at improving productivity, data capture and visibility of information in the operating environment

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key business and technology stakeholders (internal and external)

  • Perform customer research to gain insight into the voice of the business and analyze the possible alternatives and the capabilities and qualities that would be most beneficial to the business

  • Facilitate and drive alignment among key stakeholders through communication with business / functional areas

  • Drive the implementation of the digital technology across different operating areas

  • Monitor the progress of the use of technology through close communication with the business and collaboration with the different stakeholders

  • Complete development work deliverables throughout all project stages in accordance with Suncor execution models, such as ADEM and TIMs

  • Develop skillsets such as agile mindset, design thinking and rapid prototyping/POCs to accelerate value to the business

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 7 years of relevant experience in Engineering or Operations or Business Development

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or business, and/or extensive experience in industrial technology development

  • A deep understanding of how work is performed in the industrial environment, combined with the ability to define new ways of working

  • The ability to engage and influence personnel at multiple levels of the organization, from business area and functional leads (VP/GM/Director level) to front line employees

  • The ability to collaborate and coordinate with multiple stakeholders and understand the link of the work to strategy and articulate how digital technology advancements will deliver value for Suncor

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively translate technical language into business language to bridge the gap between business and technical stakeholders

  • Alignment with ourvalues: safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Knowledge of upstream and/or downstream operations and plant process

  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence and digital technologies required for optimization opportunities

  • Experience and familiarity with the design thinking process, lean and agile software delivery teams

  • A strong development mindset with demonstrable project development experience

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • The position location is flexible and would be performed from current location combined with remote work arrangements in response to COVID-19

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

  • Some travel will be required
