LSEG Software Engineer: Database Developer (Senior Associate) in Buffalo, New York

Job Responsibilities .

Perform software development and maintenance functions for the Yield Book analytics and FTSE Russell Fixed Income Indices. This position requires and rewards candidates with strong personal initiative, work ethic, and the ability to develop code for fixed income markets. The position imports data and price files from external sources and makes them available to internal databases and applications. Monitors and troubleshoots challenging data issues, takes a broader perspective to identify solutions and implement fixes.

Helps migrate existing software infra-structure into Amazon Cloud. Engages in the communications with Product, Client Services, Research and Index Team on technical requirements. Creates technical documentation for reference and reporting. Collaborates in a dynamic team environment on application development and support.

Education/Skills

  • Master’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or similar Bachelor’s Degree with demonstrable years of experience will be considered with outstanding academic achievement.

  • Programming skills in C/C++/ODBC

  • Programming skills in Shell/Perl scripting languages.

  • Strong database and stored procedure skills. Proficiency with Sybase, SQL Statement.

  • Knowledge/experience with UNIX/Linux environment.

  • Great verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly motivated and responsive and able to work as a team member and independently.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Python programming language is a strong preferred.

  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services, Postgres, Aurora are a strong plus.

  • Knowledge/experience with reporting, data extraction, and data collection is a plus.

  • Knowledge/experience with ETL Tool (Talend) is plus.

  • Strong knowledge of Fixed Income securities, such as, government, corporates and mortgage security modeling
