Job Purpose
The Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of initiatives and technology that impact the electricity distribution and transmission systems.
Key Accountabilities
Participate in the development, implementation and management of new technologies or automation of existing technologies.
Engage appropriately as a with specified stakeholders, government agencies, consenting authorities and media within the development phases of a project.
Input to the development of the engineering perspective of new business concepts.
Complete the definition of technical specifications in relation to a range of technologies.
Determine the options to be considered for the project at initiation to satisfy the need case for investment.
Ensure that a robust basis of design is produced for each scheme which documents the reasons for the investment, the options considered, costs and program.
Represent the company on industry and regulatory working groups as appropriate. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives
Provides support to other areas of National Grid such as Electric Operations, Regional Control Center, Distribution Planning, Transmission Planning, etc.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Able to motivate, counsel, coach, and develop direct reports and others.
Experience establishing clearly defined goals and standards of employee performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET accredited engineering school.
Minimum of 6 years of related experience
Knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards and legislation.
Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
Proactively makes changes to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of processes; for example, challenge existing engineering procedures and highlight areas for improvement.
Possesses positive expectations for team members and expresses regard for them.
More Information
Salary: $111,000 - $156,000
