CVS Health’s Enterprise Procurement department, a key function within the company’s Finance Global Business Services organization, is in search of a Senior Category Manager Procurement who be responsible for the Enterprise Services IT spend category. This includes Enterprise IT Services with supplier in sub-categories such as hardware, labor, software, cloud, data center, network/telephony and end user compute. This role will be responsible for defining and executing sourcing strategies that drive P&L value across the services within the assigned CVS Health spend category. To achieve success in this role, the Senior Category Manager Procurement must lead the establishment and development of highly productive relationships with key stakeholders and executive leaders as part of their relationship management practice. The Senior Category Manager Procurement will be a SME and highly skilled in use of tools such as spend analytics, market intelligence, and existing vendor agreements to build and maintain a pipeline of sourcing opportunities within the category. In this position, you will also play a leadership role representing procurement on large scale strategic enterprise initiatives and special projects (e.g. sourcing process transformation, acquisition integration, etc.) as well as leading the development and delivery of category management plans.

The Indirect Strategic Sourcing team manages over $9B in annual indirect spend across a range of IT and non-IT categories that support key business units across the enterprise (Retail, PBM, Insurance, Specialty/Clinical, etc.). As a Senior Category Manager Procurement you will be a leader on the Sourcing & Category Management team, you should have an enterprise mindset, possess highly developed business background, and be a strong communicator who is able to establish lasting relationships with business leaders as well as internal and external stakeholders, inclusive of executive level management. The Senior Category Manager Procurement will take on leadership of their projects and mentor a combination of Category Managers and Category Analysts. This critical role will report to a Lead Director within the Indirect Strategic Sourcing team.

  • Develop and maintain short, medium and long term category management and strategic sourcing plans, spend profiles, and pipeline of opportunities

  • Establish scheduled sourcing and category management reviews and planning sessions with key leaders within the assigned business area, shared services and procurement leadership; establish self as category management and strategic sourcing leader and expert

  • Lead and mentor category manager and analyst level resources on sourcing activities and analysis to ensure successful execution of RFx events aligned with category management strategy

  • Accountable for development and delivery of savings targets and measuring savings achievements

  • Lead and manage deliver of major Sourcing events with high complexity, spend, and/or visibility

  • Continually educate key leaders within the assigned business area on CVS Health policies and processes in place to support Strategic Sourcing & Category Management; communicate and demonstrate team’s value proposition

  • Maintain status of all completed, active, and planned sourcing activities as part of pipeline management and review with Procurement management and key business leaders

  • Build Category Strategy and pipeline of opportunities by leveraging spend analytics, market intelligence, and expiring contracts reporting.

  • Maintain strong working relationship with CVS Health’s business and vendor management teams, ensuring that Strategic Sourcing is engaged early on all prospective engagements requiring vendor support

  • Advise key business leaders on the development of bid strategies and creating effective scope of work documents for competitive bid processes and SOWs.

  • Ensure that CVS Health’s business leaders are utilizing preferred suppliers wherever possible, thereby leveraging the enterprise’s scale to drive greater value for the company

  • Ensure that key commercial principals are thoroughly developed in conjunction with CVS Health’s contracting team to identify new and creative approaches to contracting with vendor partners

  • This role will ideally be a hybrid position based out of Cumberland, RI, Hartford, CT or Buffalo Grove, IL and candidates within a commutable distance to one of these locations will be required to be in office Tuesdays and Wednesday and 2 Thursdays per month.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience related to IT Strategic Sourcing & Category Management creating category planning aligned with and in partnership with IT and BU stakeholders and their roadmap strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience in building category management strategies by segmenting purchased goods and services into categories to identify opportunities to consolidate spending, enable IT strategy and create value for the business

  • Significant experience of building and presenting complex business cases to senior leaders in Procurement, Finance, IT and Business Units.

  • Ability to travel up to 15% for supplier presentations, site visits, and key department meetings at RI Headquarters (no more than quarterly)

  • Demonstrated strong business acumen and high level of problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Exhibited excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to confidently and expertly interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Established analytical ability, strategic thinker, learn and process new information quickly

  • Strong background in leading and using of Project/Program Management tools and methodology (Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, etc)

  • Experience with IT Supply Chain, Procurement Analytics, Project Management, or Management Consulting

  • Ability to quickly capture, analyze, and summarize large and complex data sets

  • Display strong organization and project management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks without direct supervision, while paying strong attention to detail and follow-up

  • Intellectually curious, eager to gain new experiences, qualifications, and responsibilities

  • Proven experience of value delivery through negotiating complex technology agreements

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing vendor management and supplier consolidation plans

  • Experience with leading and implementing and workflow development of electronic sourcing platforms, such as ServiceNow, Ariba eSourcing, etc. is a plus

Education

Bachelor’s degree required, focus on Accounting/Finance/Business Administration/Supply Chain preferred or equivalent experience. MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$79,200.00 - $174,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
