This position exists to provide hydrologic expertise at petroleum release sites by evaluating, directing and/or coordinating hydrogeologic investigations and cleanups. The purpose of the investigations and cleanups is to evaluate, prevent, or correct environmental problems to protect human health and the environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor‘s degree in one of the following areas: Environmental Engineering; Environmental Health; Environmental Studies; Geology; Hydrogeology; Hydrology; Soil and Water Resource Management; Soil Science; Water Resource Management.
To qualify candidates must have least two courses completed in Hydrology/Hydrogeology and listed on their resume. [Candidates must list courses on resume to qualify]
Basic computer skills; proficiency in Word and exposure to Excel and Power Point.
Good communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain good working relations with internal and external business partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Geology or Hydrology/Hydrogeology.
Demonstrated ability to bring projects to a satisfactory conclusion.
Problem-solving skills for resolving complex technical matters.
Experience with public communication efforts on health or environmental projects.
Proven written and verbal communication and human relations skills to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Advanced technical writing skills related to the remediation of contaminated soil, groundwater, and vapors.
Proficiency with GIS.
Ability to make environmental regulatory decisions based on limited data.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use a computer and perform keyboard functions for multiple hours per day.
Additional Requirements
Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
