Under limited supervision, the Chemistry Lab Manager oversees the daily activities of the laboratory; prepares lab experiments, maintains the lab equipment and inventory; maintains safety materials for the labs; assists in carrying out laboratory experiments and assignments as needed; assists instructors with set up/development of new laboratories; requests and monitors the department budget; requests and maintains student-worker budget; hires/assigns work-schedules/supervises student workers; performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate or higher degree in Chemistry; AND
One academic year of teaching/tutoring experience in Chemistry at the high school level or above; OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
AS or BS in Chemistry with coursework in Biology and/or Physics
Organizational skills
College-level teaching or teaching assistant experience
College level coursework in Chemistry including introductory and advanced courses
Working knowledge of laboratory principles, techniques, and operation of equipment
Computer competence and knowledge of MS Office Suite
Ability to assist in the maintenance of software products
Knowledge of OSHA requirements
Supervisory skills
