Undergraduate Admissions Counselor (71150) Location: Brooklyn, NY Description: The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor is an entry-level position in the Office of Admissions that works to recruit and enroll qualified students who would benefit from matriculation in the undergraduate degree programs of Pratt Institute. The position works closely with the Director of Admissions to design and deliver a wide range of recruitment and enrollment services. In addition to supporting the general recruitment work of the office, the Counselor will manage an assigned pool of prospects and applicants, counsel students, conduct portfolio reviews and represent Pratt at a wide range of events and on digital platforms. The Counselor will maintain in-depth knowledge of the curriculum, facilities, faculty and alumni for each program. Key Duties & Responsibilities Interview students, conduct group information sessions, and travel throughout the United States as needed to represent Pratt at recruitment events, portfolio days, high schools, community colleges, college fairs, and arts organizations. Maintain a digital presence on a variety of platforms to inform and attract prospective students. Coordinate with continuing students and alumni to assist in the creation of content that will inspire and inform high school students, parents, teachers, counselors and community based organizations. Speak publicly to individuals and groups during in-person and virtual events and meetings. Develop and maintain close working relationships with key secondary school constituents. Review application materials, credentials, and portfolios to determine eligibility for admission and scholarship. Assist in the planning and delivery of on-campus recruitment and portfolio review events. Field incoming communications from, and make outgoing communications to, prospective students, parents, educators and counselors. Maintain a strong understanding and accurate account of information about the academic programs and the Pratt community. Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the department's communication plan to prospective and admitted students. Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the admission social media plan, designed to engage prospective students, their families, and educators. Provide basic information and guidance to assist prospective students on available programs, eligibility requirements, and all relative admissions policies and procedures. Assist deposited applicants with the business of enrollment and the completion of required forms. Serve as a liaison for the student with offices across campus including: student financial services, residential life, academic advisement, health services, academic support services, and the registrar. Maintain accurate and current prospect and applicant records in Admissions databases and CRM. Utilize data to inform recruitment planning and activities. Maintain general knowledge on financial aid processes, Stay current on industry trends and best practices of the profession of college admission counseling, Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree required. BFA or significant coursework in art and design preferred. Experience: One to two years of previous transferrable work experience desired. Previous work on a college campus, especially in Admissions is a plus. Skills: Strong people skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Facility with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work with databases. Strong organizational skills and a serious attention to detail. Ability to see projects through from start to finish with a reasonable minimum of supervision. Ability to think critically, analyze information, and make actionable recommendations. Ability to build fruitful partnerships with colleagues and co-workers. An ability to mitigate stress and contribute to a positive work environment. A good sense of humor and a solutions-first focus helpful. Ability to provide an appropriate level of candor, collaboration, respect, preparedness, and engagement as a member of a team. Ability to travel and to work evening and weekends. Additional Qualifications: Interest in supporting the goals of higher education and the mission of Pratt Institute. Sincere interest in working with diverse populations. Valid driver's license. Ability to adhere to Institute COVID-19 policy and requirements. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $62,500 to $67,500 . The position is eligible for remote work 2 days per week.
