Student Life Child Care Center Manager (HEA) - 400355 Job ID 25938 Location Kingsborough Community College Full/Part Time Regular/Temporary Regular POSITION DETAILS The Manager of the Child Development Center reports to the Executive Director for Student Affairs, or Designee. The Manager is responsible for the Center?s educational policy and implementation and provides leadership to the Center. The Manager is also responsible for the following: Provides strategic planning and recommendations for the Child Development center to Student Affairs. Develops, supports and administers the Center?s childcare, early childhood education, and pre-school programs encompassing educational programming for children 18 months?5 years. These activities include, but are not limited to curriculum development, parents/children interview processing, recruitment, and certification training. Provides supervision to a staff of early childhood professionals. Develops and coordinates educational programs through meetings with staff, review of teachers? activities and issuance of directives; reviews educational material with classroom teachers and makes final decision on appropriateness of material for classroom instruction; evaluates teaching techniques and recommends changes for improvements. Responsible for all financial aspects of the Center?s functioning, such as assigning and collection of fees or tuition, purchasing and payment, budget projections, expenses, contracts negotiation, and regular financial reports; plans and monitors early childhood program budget. Monitors all funding sources including review of financial statements, maintaining compliance with all regulations, renewal of contracts, and preparation of reports; develops and manages grant funding for program including investigation of possible grant sources, and preparation of grant applications. Directs the preparation of class schedules, cumulative records and attendance reports. Plans and directs facility maintenance. Facilitates an annual program of self-assessment of the Center. Attends conferences and training to keep up to date on current issues and legislation in the child development field. Ensures and maintains compliance with CUNY, city, state and federal regulations governing childcare programs, licensing, insurance liability and requirements pertaining to staff including screening, fingerprinting, and all health regulations. Serves as liaison and Public Policy Chair to the Child Care Council at CUNY, CUNY Office of Student Affairs, other CUNY or Kingsborough Community College committees and local and national organizations. QUALIFICATIONS BA in one or combination of following areas: Early Childhood Education, Business Management, Organizational Management or Communications; MA preferred Must meet NY State licensing requirements and all other regulatory requirements for a child care director 5+ years' director experience in a licensed child care setting preferred plus three years' teaching or supervisory experience CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW Manages an on-site campus child care center to provide a safe and stimulating environment for children in the center's care. Represents the center to a wide range of constituents within and outside the College Manages planning, budgeting, facilities, and other administrative issues Provides leadership in hiring, supervising, developing, and evaluating staff; oversees staff interaction with students; assures adequate coverage during hours of operation Develops appropriate learning programs and activities for children Maintains compliance with relevant regulations and health and safety guidelines Creates and maintains policy and procedure materials and assures the staff is trained appropriately Provides on-site presence for parent communications and problem resolution Performs related duties as assigned.
