About the Role
Out of Brooklyn office, you will support the US/NY VP Controller in ensuring the integrity of our external reporting and control environment as it relates to NY operating companies which include NIMO, KEDNY and KEDLI.
You will be the key contact for the NY CFO, NY FP&A and NY Regulatory teams and provide expert input and analysis of accounting matters. You will need executive presence to successfully influence business outcomes for the NY operating companies.
What You'll Do
• Support the Vice President, New York Controller and FP&A in the delivery of accurate and complete financial statements and supporting information for National Grid USA’s New York (NY) operating companies.
• Accountable for the entirety of the financial information (full P&L and B/S) of the NY operating companies, including all key accounting judgments and estimates.
• Ownership of the entirety of the accounting and reporting function for the NY operating companies
• Review and approval of external financial statements, group reporting packs, and accompanying analytical reviews (IFRS, US GAAP, FERC and State filings) issued by the NY operating companies.
• Embedding strong controls environment and controls culture across the NY Controllership team
• Key contact for the Company’s external auditors, driving the annual audits and interim reviews to completion.
• Review and approval of any Technical Accounting memos impacting the NY operating companies.
• Review and approval of the annual impairment test over goodwill and any other impairment analyses related to the NY operating companies.
• Responsible for review and approval of proposed accounting for any new or amended rate orders issued by regulatory authorities.
• Lead the relationship with key stakeholders within the Company’s Enterprise Business Services team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
• Partner with the NY CFO team to provide accounting and regulatory support to the broader US Finance function.
• Partner with the NY FP&A team to deliver accurate forecast results for the NY Business Unit and provide input on monthly analyses of actual results against budget/forecast.
• Partner with the NY Regulatory team to provide accounting expertise and support during the rate case process and other regulatory proceedings.
• Liaise with the Risk Controls and Compliance team in preventing control deficiencies. Responsible for review and approval of any deficiency evaluations and remediation plans for controls owned by the NY Controllership team.
• Partner with Group Treasury team on any capital market transactions, such as 144A debt issuances, impacting the NY operating companies.
What You'll Need
• Experience in orchestrating of teams and inputs to develop a comprehensive and consistent view of the financial performance and financial position of the NY business unit
• Knowledge of IFRS accounting principles and disclosure requirements
• Knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and disclosure requirements
• Knowledge of industry-specific regulatory accounting principles under US GAAP (ASC 980) and the FERC Uniform System of Accounts
• Experience in external reporting (US GAAP and FERC Form 1)
• Transaction and close process management experience
• Knowledge of governance, risk and controls and compliance standards
• Ability to articulate complex financial topics in business impact terms and able to explain required notes and disclosures to the external accounts
• Ability to bring together commercial and technical acumen (accounting, regulatory, tax etc.)
• Able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Influencing and managing indirectly through matrix structures and dotted reporting lines experience
• 10+ years’ experience + qualified Accountant (Chartered Accountant or CPA) with significant SOX experience

Annual Salary
$172,000-$202,000
