Job Purpose

We’re looking for a passionate Finance Transformation Director to join our CFO function. The role involves looking beyond the CFO to understand the changing business landscape and evolving IT developments that impact National Grid. This is crucial for enabling the Transformation Operating Model (TOM) to adapt and continuously seek opportunities for improvement.

The role requires the ability to influence at the most senior levels of the business, and act as the interface between the EPOs, project managers, IT architecture and the CFO function.  

Key Accountabilities

Target Operating Model (TOM) Maintenance:

  • Maintain the CFO TOM, encompassing CFO Ambition, organizational structure, end-to-end processes, skills & talent, governance, information architecture, and technical infrastructure.

  • Facilitate and direct the iterative process of reassessing the TOM based on operating model changes, external developments, CFO priorities, business unit requirements, and regulatory submissions.

Project Roadmap and Support:

  • Design and iterate the project roadmap to achieve the TOM and strategic priorities.

  • Provide architectural support to projects and Enterprise Process Owners (EPOs) to ensure alignment with the TOM and project roadmap.

  • Drive project quality, ensuring the delivery of necessary artifacts and adherence to design principles.

Interdependency Management:

  • Continually identify and mitigate interdependencies and threats impacting the CFO function roadmap.

  • Collaborate with other functions, the central Transformation office, and stakeholders to prioritize, sequence, and mitigate cross-functional impacts.

CFO Design Authority (DA):

  • Chair DA governance meetings, ensuring design decisions align with the TOM.

  • Seek DA approval for proposed changes to the TOM.

Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, "STEM" Majors) with significant equivalent experience

  • Extensive operational experience in high-performing FTSE100 finance, covering all aspects of TOM.

  • Proven track record in driving broad business transformation, understanding value drivers, and identifying opportunities for the CFO function.

  • Strong understanding of the control's environment, ensuring streamlined process delivery and adherence to SOX control requirements.

  • Skilled in influencing senior levels, developing lasting relationships, and securing buy-in and support.

  • Strong commercial acumen, bridging IT and finance, supporting decisions with robust business cases.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement, achieve high standards, and educate others on the transformation journey.

Salary

Brooklyn, NY $189,000 - $222,000 a year

Waltham, MA $177,000 - $208,000 a year

Syracuse, NY $157,000-$185,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
