Pratt Director of Academic Programs and Outreach (71101) in Brooklyn, New York

The Director of Academic Programs and Outreach (Credit) at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS), will be at the forefront of designing, managing, and implementing a range of innovative continuing education programs. This role involves overseeing a diverse portfolio that includes credit programs like the Integrative Mind and Body Program, PreCollege, Summer Credit Intensive courses, as well as custom and certificate programs available in in-person, online, and hybrid formats. These programs cater to a varied audience including domestic and international nontraditional adult learners and high school students.

The individual in this role will drive new initiatives and program creation to align with SCPS's strategic goals, fostering strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance revenue and enrollment. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean, they are expected to strategically execute the vision, supported by the programming team which includes the PreCollege Associate Director and a Program Coordinator.

The role will also play a key role in curriculum development, lead the SCPS Curriculum Committee, oversee credit curriculum approvals, and provide comprehensive support and guidance across all aspects of the PreCollege and Youth programs.

The Director of Academic Programs and Outreach is responsible for and assumes ownership of all elements that pertain to the success of their portfolio of programs including but not limited to those listed.

Responsibilities:

Revenue and Enrollment Growth

  • Oversee the financial health of programs by monitoring revenue and expenses, adhering to industry best practices to ensure fiscal viability, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Continuously refine the vision for programs and courses based on data-driven insights, student feedback, and industry needs to drive revenue and enrollment growth.

  • Foster external exposure and collaboration with business partners and internal champions to increase enrollment. Develop and maintain relationships with high schools and the Admissions Office to enhance recruitment efforts for the PreCollege and Youth programs.

  • Create a supportive and effective learning environment by establishing strong relationships with faculty and students, ensuring open communication, and actively engaging with classroom activities to gather feedback. Commit to advancing diversity and inclusion within the faculty and student body, promoting an inclusive and multicultural atmosphere at Pratt.

New Program Development

  • Drive program innovation and growth by collecting and interpreting data from multiple sources, such as competitive market analysis and feedback from students and instructors. Develop a forward-looking vision that adapts to community needs and incorporates diverse cultural perspectives into existing and new programs. Collaborate closely with Pratt colleagues to ensure curriculum quality and alignment with institute standards.

  • Oversee the selection and hiring of qualified instructors and subject matter experts, actively participate in curriculum development and revisions, and lead the SCPS Curriculum Committee. Evaluate and determine the most effective delivery modes for programs, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face options. Facilitate curriculum submissions with the Provost's Office and ensure inclusive educational practices.

  • Lead your programming team in regularly discussing new ideas and process improvements, and work in partnership with other Program Directors to align school-wide growth and programming objectives. Pursue new revenue and enrollment opportunities through custom and contract training, and support program offerings with special courses, events, and informational sessions. Coordinate with SCPS operations, finance, and marketing teams to enhance overall program support.

Relationships/Marketing/Special Events

  • Forge strong partnerships and develop outreach programs to support portfolio growth, in collaboration with the SCPS Director of Marketing to analyze and enhance enrollment strategies. Contribute to the annual SCPS marketing plan, aligning with strategic goals for increased recognition and revenue.

  • Conduct market analysis to guide new initiatives and collaborate with the marketing team on web strategies. Lead the creation of reports and metrics for SCPS leadership and establish focus groups to support program development. Ensure marketing materials are updated promptly.

  • Evaluate marketing campaign effectiveness, oversee enrollment and revenue reports, and take on special projects as needed. Represent SCPS at various external events and fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Supervision

  • Under the general supervision of the SCPS Assistant Dean and receives additional direction, when necessary, from other senior leadership staff. Receives oral and written instructions as needed.

  • The Director of Academic Programs and Outreach - Credit directly supervises the Associate Director - PreCollege and Youth Programs and a Program Coordinator.
