Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation & Institutional Effectiveness POSITION DETAILS Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-five colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Medgar Evers College, the Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness will lead and manage administrative functions, and develop, implement, and assess programs to meet the mission and strategic plan of the College. The Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness is responsible for staff supervision, budget, operations, and offices assigned to the position. The candidate is responsible for executing the assessment and accreditation processes related to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), and all other college program accreditations to include but not limited to the Accreditation Commission for Education, in Nursing (ACEN), Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), Commission on Social Work Education (CSWE), Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and New York State Education Department (NYSED). The position will be responsible for NYSED and the City University of New York (CUNY) mandated annual program reviews. The Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness will provide leadership and supervision for: -Assessment & Accreditation -Institutional Research -Center for Teaching and Learning -Online, Distance Learning and Academic Technology -Student Academic Support -Honors Program -Study Abroad The position will provide support to academic departments. The Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness is charged to advance the mission of the Office of Academic Affairs at Medgar Evers College with the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs to ensure the highest level of institutional effectiveness and academic quality throughout the College. The candidate will support the use of data analytics and continuous assessment across the College with attention to student success. As appropriate, the candidate will represent the College at meetings, presentations, and forums within the larger CUNY system, and with external stakeholders. The Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness will identify, develop, and implement in collaboration with the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs new innovative initiatives for the Division of Academic Affairs. The position will formulate and evaluate projects on student retention and completion. The Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness will work collaboratively with administrators and respective College stakeholders to complete specific initiatives. The candidate will also develop internal and external communication plans, presentations, and reports related to academic programs and initiatives as assigned by the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Other job functions will include but not be limited to: -Serve as a resource and subject matter expert in regional accreditation, assessment, and planning for the College. -Benchmarking, analyzing, and synthesizing regulatory and other information that provides strategies for academic innovation and programming. -Ensure continuous assessment at the college to support decision making to advance institutional effectiveness and efficiency for student success. -Work on projects to advance innovations in new in-person and online degree programs. -Recommends policies and procedures to improve the College?s institutional effectiveness programs. -Serves as a member of various college-wide committees to ensure collaborative efforts support the institutional effectiveness of the College. -Perform other job functions assigned by the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. QUALIFICATIONS This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Preferred: -The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate and at least eight years of relevant administrative experience. -The candidate will show demonstrated administrative skills and a hands-on approach and will be engaged, innovative, and most importantly, motivated by a clear commitment to students. -The ideal candidate will have the managerial and organizational skills and political acumen to navigate a complex academic setting, build strong relationships with other senior administrators and deans, earn the respect of faculty, encourage communication and collaboration across the different academic and professional schools, centers and college divisions and have a keen understanding of the major issues, trends, and opportunities of U.S. research universities. -The Associate Provost will also have significant successful experience in curriculum development and implementation; general education, interdisciplinary programs; and academic assessment and evaluation.
