POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES This research program focuses on the immunogenetic, epigenetic, and environmental mechanisms underlying thyroid autoimmunity, and type 1 diabetes, and on targeting these mechanisms in order to develop novel therapies. Perform mouse experiments in which experimental autoimmune thyroid disease are induced in mouse models. Perform mouse experiments in which islet autoimmunity is induced in mouse models. Genotype mice. Maintain mice colonies. Back-cross mouse lines to produce new genetically modified mouse lines. Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures; Require occasional guidance; Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies; Rarely modify technical procedures; Rarely train other lab members; Rarely guide other lab members; Basic understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required; Occasionally analyze data; Rarely interpret data; Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals QUALIFICATIONS Required to have at least a Bachelor's Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience, and zero to two years of related experience. Experience in general lab work, cell culture and mouse models is preferred. Background in Molecular Biology preferred.
