HERC: Metro New York & Southern Connecticut Repost- Associate Director of Centralized Advising (Title V) in Bronx, New York

(Repost) Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director of Centralized Advising will be a transfer specialist. As such, they will need to coordinate with Enrollment Management, Deans’ Offices, and Chairs to evaluate transfer equivalencies for all incoming transfer students. They will ensure transfer students receive a welcoming and seamless transition into Manhattan College. The Associate Director will be able to work independently and in collaboration with campus stakeholders. This position is available through a Title V grant.

Responsibilities

Partner with Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Deans’ Offices, and Chairs in the outreach, communication, and advising of transfer students, facilitating a smooth entrance to Manhattan College

Register all new transfer students, providing them with a schedule in a timely manner

Provide tailored advising to a caseload of 150-200 students, maintaining individual student records

Follow guidance to effectively prioritize advising meetings and triage students' needs

Facilitate a successful transition for transfer students to their faculty advisors

Implement the use of a transfer equivalency platform for internal and external constituencies

Process transfer credit evaluation requests, ensuring that proper documentation is received

Review curricular requirements at the College, to ensure transfer credit is applied properly

Collaborate with the Office of the Registrar for timely submission of transfer credits to Banner

Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to transfer credits and evaluations

Support transfer credit evaluations and academic advising procedures for specific student populations (e.g. NCAA athletes, Veterans)

Work with academic schools and Transfer Admissions on the development of articulation agreements

Serve as an information source for students, faculty, and staff by maintaining knowledge of articulation agreements and other transfer credit regulations or policies

Develop and administer programming that specifically targets incoming transfer students

Lead collaborative efforts on behalf of academic advising for Orientation and the First Year Experience

Coordinate the development of web pages and public facing resources for transfer students

Participate in professional development to ensure MC is following evidence-based and best practices in advising and student support

Serve as a member of the Athletic Compliance and Eligibility (ACE) Committee

The position may include supervisory responsibilities overseeing other academic advisors

Work one alternative schedule each week to facilitate evening opening hours until 6:00pm

Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

Master’s degree required

Three to five years of experience working with Hispanic, Pell-eligible and other URM students

Previous experience working in a higher education academic affairs setting

Experience working with Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, Starfish, and MS Excel preferred

Good communication skills

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Ability to multitask and prioritize

Familiarity with NCAA rules a plus

Willing to work evenings and weekends as required

The salary range for this position will be $75,000 - $90,000.
