Overview

In partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi our teams accommodate more than 325,000 outpatient visits, more than 100,000 emergency room visits and more than 20,000 inpatient admissions annually. NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is renowned for The Trauma Center, staffed to treat any traumatic injury or illness, the fully accredited Breast Health Center, and The Burn Center, with more than 40 years of work in burn care. The hospital also serves patients of many other needs. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with Albert Einstein Medical College of Yeshiva University.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Medicine and/or Director Occupational Therapy the Staff Occupational Therapist:
Will Perform all occupational therapy clinical tasks including initial evaluation, treatment, re-evaluation, and discharge summary
Will be responsible for a full caseload of patients including interpreting every medical referral; scheduling and evaluating all patients assigned; planning and implementing effective treatment programs; and providing family training when necessary.
Will be responsible for training occupational therapy Fieldwork I students, under the supervision of the director.
Will participate in the organization and delivery of lectures to physicians, students and other allied health professionals as requested.
Will communicate regularly with the physicians and health professionals regarding the function of occupational therapy.
Will be responsible for requesting to the Director of Occupational Therapy, needed supplies and/or equipment for better patient care.
Will directly supervise occupational therapy students on Fieldwork II experiences under the supervision of the Director of Occupational Therapy, after one year.
Will Keep patient records; participates in departmental statistical surveys, performance improvement projects, in-services, and patient rounds
Will have the opportunity to rotate through the bedside therapy department, and acute rehab department.
***Must be willing to work an alternate schedule, Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday, with occasional holiday coverage.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Unrestricted NYS License OT
Is a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy school and is licensed in New York State
Communicates effectively in professional oral, written and computer language, and is computer and Internet literate
Is committed to continued professional growth

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with all ages
In-hospital experience an advantage
Experience with acute trauma and stroke is a plus
New graduates will be considered
